Cristi López

b. 1993

I am a Gainesville, Florida native living and creating in Chicago; I am a first-generation American of Dominican, Cuban, and Spanish descent.

In 2016, I graduated from Ringling College of Art & Design with a BFA in Illustration. I was recently a Resident Artist (2017–18) and Instructor at Chicago’s Lillstreet Art Center. I have exhibited my artwork in galleries across the US and abroad, including 10 Corso Como in Milan and Galerie F in Chicago. I have work in private collections around the world, including that of renowned author Amy Tan.

My work expresses psychological states through allegorical imagery. My pieces are rendered in traditional mixed media including colored pencil, ink, acrylic, and/or oil paint on paper. I am particularly interested in applying my illustrations to self-help, psychology, philosophy, and mental health-related content.
